Following the UK Government’s lock down announcement we closed our doors on Wednesday 25th March, like many other businesses not knowing if it would be weeks or even months until we might open them again. The following day, our parent company Specialised Canvas Group received a phone call from a local care home enquiring about our ability to design and manufacture face shields.
Acting quickly on this idea, members of the Banner Box, Specialised Canvas and Flagmakers team had designed, prototyped and delivered the first batch of face shields to local care homes by the Friday afternoon, much to the delight of the home’s nurses and residents.
Fast forward 10 days and the company was featured on BBC News and national radio and had developed a wide range of protective equipment including gowns, aprons, protective sleeves and head scrubs using the same materials, skills and machines used during our standard operations.
