Getting to know you: Ben Thorpe

How well do you know our Print Supervisor, Ben? There’s more to him than meets the eye and some of his answers are a surprise. Luckily, you can learn all about him in our latest Q&A and get to know all the Banner Box team better in our Meet the Team series.

Describe yourself in 5 words – 3 if you’re struggling:

Handsome, Funny, and Chunky but Funky. This needs no further explanation in my opinion.

What is your most used emoji?

I basically end every message with the crying laughing face 😂😂😂

What is your favourite Movie/TV show of all time?

The Simpsons. This is such an easy answer. All the characters are so funny and it still manages to come up with funny stories even after 30 years. Having all the episodes on Disney+ was a real help during lockdown and it brought all the classic catchphrases back to life. D’oh!

Which TV or movie character do you identify with and why?

This was a bit harder. I don’t really want to say any from the Simpsons as they’re all so ridiculous. I’ll go with Ronaldo. Technically he appears on TV a lot so let’s go with that. Ronaldo is the best at what he does, and so am I, so we fit together pretty well.

Do you have any pets?

Yes, I have my little dachshund called Lenny (not named after the Simpsons character) and he always cheers me up when I come home and see his little tail wagging.

What is your favourite food and drink?

I’m a man with very sophisticated tastes. I love getting a fully stacked burger from Five Guys and washing it down with a can of Grapefruit Fanta.

What is your ‘go-to’ Karaoke song?

This is another easy choice. Arctic Monkeys – I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor. But I’ll only agree to it if I’ve had a few drinks first.

How do you spend your time away from the office?

You can normally find me watching or playing football, and if my family and friends are there too then it’s an added bonus haha. I love to go Mountain Biking at the weekends too.

Amsterdam

If money weren’t a factor, what would your dream holiday be?

It’s a toss-up between Dubai or the Maldives. I need to go somewhere warm, with sand, and where I can wear shorts without getting odd looks.

What is your favourite place in the world?

I love Amsterdam. So much to do and see there and always have a good time.
