Syston Park Speed Trials Banners

We were invited to produce some banners for a special one-off revival event at Syston Park, near Grantham. We manufactured the event signage and starters flag ahead of the big day.

Racing began in Syston in 1906, by 1926 Syston was the proud owner of the first road racing circuit in Britain. In the tracks heyday the venue was attracting over 30,000 visitors, however, sadly racing ceased in 1939. That was until 2016!

28th August 2016 saw the revival of racing at Syston Park. The aim was to recapture the spirit of the original Syston events. Including the vehicles used… with only pre-1939 cars and motor cycles racing at the event. The races even ran up the original half mile hill climb, the event also featured a classic car display.

Planning for revival began in 2015 when a group of friends gathered to plan the return of motorsport to the park. The event was exclusively for vintage vehicles with the aim of creating a very special occasion in the racing calendar.

We produced a selection of A2 correx signage boards which were placed around the event. These can be used as an alternative to printed banners at events, with correx providing an excellent medium to print temporary directional signage.

Banner Box also supplied a starters flag, for which we were very impressed with the artwork. The design was simple yet perfectly encapsulated the spirit of the vintage event. The start line was also marked with a large “start” banner which flew proudly on race day and welcomed so many beautiful vintage vehicles to the race day.

Although this event was created as a one-off revival we certainly hope it returns next year! It looked a brilliant day out and a great opportunity for motoring enthusiasts to meet and test their vehicles, as well as providing a great day out!
